Hi all,
An ebay seller by the name of 0208littlemac is listing recons on ebay for sale.
Last week he sold about £100 worth. I reported the items but nothing seems to have happened as they're still in the ebay systems history.
Can someone with a bit of clout step in and inform the right people.

That is typical. If they don't like a particular 35mm film print on eBay, it gets yanked quicker than a bad tooth. |

I messaged the seller stating
why are you selling recons which are avaliable for free.Youre profiting from other peoples hard work.
and he replied with
because these were not free - they cost me 300 pounds before i realised you can get them free from LCP
 So i replid with this
well you getting ripped off dosent allow you to do the same
and im wating for a reply.But i think hes speaking out his arse. |

Got an email from 4 sellers about me putting these up here, they had all heard of loose cannon and told me their waiting list was 2 months before they recieved the recons - so i put these up here at a low price and they escalated rapidly - plus i enjoy the benefits of getting my money back & what normal person would not.

That might not be such a good idea. I wouldn't want to see a crackdown on LC since they are the ones that made the reconstruction. The last thing we need is to have somebody shut them down. Where would we get our recons from then? |

The problem here is that the sellers are effectively selling an illegal product. LC have no ownership to the material used in making the reconstructions (aside from the specially-filmed parts), and as a result the only people who can order the sale be taken down is the BBC themselves, which would draw unwanted BBC attention to the recons.
And while people like Steve Roberts and Mark Ayres are fully aware of the reconstructions (after all, the LC recon of The Tenth Planet was used for reference for the BBC recon) and haven't taken any action against them, if they went to BBC Legal, then again LC is under threat.
Sadly the whole things is a no-win situation - the best you can do is try and contact people bidding for the item and telling them they can get recons for free directly from LC (if you can even do that any more)... |

This is making me seriously angry.
A lot of selfless work goes into these Loose Cannon recons so that we can can enjoy the history of Doctor Who that 2/E will never let us see.
Anyone or anything that stands in its way will feel the full strength of my wrath, and believe me I can be very creatively nasty if I need to be.
The people who make these recons are heroes and this kind of crap will not be tolerated. |

What the people here say about the seller might not carry much weight with eBay, but what would happen if the buyers that got the recons complained to eBay about him? Suppose if somebody here were to contact the buyers and provided them with the information that the recons they purchased were being offered for free at the recon website. If that would have happened to me, I would definitely complain about it. |

Here's an idea. One of us who is an Ebay user could put up a permanent listing using all the key words in the descriptions of recons - but at a "buy it now" price of £1 (or something low anyway). The text description can explain that recons are available for free through the international DW fan network and that a simple google search will give the location for dubbers. The "Buy it Now" can often have a very long life (a month?) and even if some scammers try to "buy" them all it will cost them (you can put multiple items in a listing).
The point is, anyone doing a search for recons will come across the information telling them they can be had for free. |

Hi Cook hows it going, thanks for Informing me about my Pridickament on forum pages, What i cant understand is how you came to think these are loose cannon productions, THEY ARE NOT, Theses were bought online 10 years ago from a private seller "ReconLord99" through my Fathers email service - We paid for them & are now selling them on because these are different slightly from the loose cannon ones - and all the Negativity has forced me into retirement, so you get what you want, Keep In touch, Mavis + CO.

Well its funny how if they were bought 10 years ago (how many people had DVD burners then??) that he claims he can get as many copies as people want from his 'supplier' and that he states they are new!
