The new Evil recon has now been released http://www.recons.com/recons/lc31.htm

Russ and Dean have done a fantastic job on this one, aided by some incredible CGI from Stuart Palmer and Iz Skinner. Enjoy!

Are LC blokes generally mad?

Derek - how come Dean and Russ didn't get into trouble from Michelle for turning your kitchen into a health hazard?

Russ - how could you wrap your daughter up in a blanket to pretend to be a corpse for photographs?

Seriously, sounds good and will try to get a copy (no working VCR)

Looks superb.

Having memorized episode 7 of this story for my own animated version, I've been anxiously awaiting the definitive Loose Cannon version .... and from live action filming at the real locations to CGI, it's clearly been worth the wait.

Wish I still had a VCR!

BTW there's a typo in the link to Sonny Caldinez's Hall of Fame page on your main page for Evil of the Daleks.

Glad to see a new Faceless Ones, even though I just rewatched the story! Which is a favorite of mine. Like myself you already had the space station model lying around from Evil of the Daleks!

Roll on The Web of Fear though! Long overdue. And The Wheel in Space. Not a great story but also long overdue.

Swing by a thrift store. I've seen used VCRs there for four or five bucks -- less than you'd pay for the video tape and shipping.

You can literally get them for nothing around here. I've seen a few set out for the trash.

Our local ASDA charges £31 for VCRs and that's dearer than some DVD players!

The new Evil recon sounds amazing & hopefully I will see it quite soon.

In the recon does the Emperor glow a bit at the end to show that he may survive ( which I've read was in the original transmission ) ?

I saw it in the 60's (the repeat definitely & probably the 67 broadcast ).
I can't recall the detail I mention above ( lights flashing from inside the Emperor )-

But I do remember ( correctly I think) that some of the Daleks & quite likely the Emperor himself, as part of their destruction, foam over from where the body casing meets the head casing
( & also from the top of the body casing after the head casings are blown up in the case of the little uns )-

I recall this was quite a frothy gooey substance, which sort of boiled over from the daleks in question
( the image of an orgasmic walnut whip comes to mind for some reason! )
- maybe it was just a variation on the BBC's oft-used foam machine effect.

I think I've read other accounts of this detail being remembered by viewers.

Just wondered if this goo/foam effect is present in the recon in any shape or form ?

It was quite memorable at the time - although its so long ago maybe my memory's wrong; but it seems quite vivid.

Whether it is or not though - I'm sure the recon will be one of the best recons ever;
LC always serving up gripping & sublime visualisations of a very high quality.

Id like to offer a huge thankyou to you guys who made this fantastic recon with the cgi stuff you did. I was really pleased at how the final 5 minutes came out on episode 7 and was well done.

This effect can be seen on the surviving cine-camera footage of the destruction filming in the film studio. There's even a shot down the "neck" of one of the bubbling Daleks and a side shot of it overflowing - IIRC wallpaper paste and something like wood chippings were mixed with some other goo and pushed/pumped up & out from below.

Since they've used Tony Cornell's 8mm footage of the final battle, I'm sure the relevant bits are there in the recon.

I watched the inteviews with Sonny Caldinez and John Peel last night. Those were awesome! Sonny totally cracked me up! He'd be awesome to hang out at a pub with over a beer! I also LOVED listening to John Peel's stories about interacting with Terry Nation! I'm so glad you were able to get these guys interviewed and included in posterity for these topics!

Finished watching this release last night (with all the extras), fantastic!
The lack of Telesnaps for some sections were very well covered by the CGI and Grims Dyke footage (see the article in the link below).
Well done to everyone.

Well done and thank you, chaps!

I loved the scene with Victoria and the Daleks in the corridor filmed at Grims Dyke, the camera angle is absolutely spot on, as is the Victoria costume.

Derek's kitchen wasn't sacrificed in vain either...

Its good that you point that scene out Mikey cause I was stunned to discover there was only one dalek there - you would swear there are two in shot

Have to add my agreement to that - a truly excellent recon.

Thanks for that go to Stan Rust, who should really have had a credit on the making of, for showing me how to achieve that in After Effects

It was a very good recon.

I hope that you lot are in touch with Hastran over at Who3D.co.uk, who has modelled the Servo robot from Wheel in Space and generally done a ton of work on that serial. He is, quite simply, the man to get in touch with when you do Wheel in Space.

Iz Skinner is the one for Web of Fear.

it's a terrific recon. The cgi is great, I expect nothing less from Stuart, but Iz's rope climbing section, especially Kemel's leap to the balcony, was a revelation. A word of praise is also due to the fantastic editing together of stills to recreate the sword fight.

Thats very kind of you, as i said in the making of it was one of the scenes that were really troubling me, Castle De'Ath was an absolute godsend, once i saw it i had hoped to use more clips than just the one of Steed ducking but the extra kilt made that impossible, it's quite amazing the sets matched so well, even the same suit of armour! The Sea Devils photos were a handy bonus

Hey Russ,

I heard a nasty rumor about you! Is it true you try to get at least 4 hours of sleep a night and that if you didn't, we'd have the recons much faster?!?

Say it ain't so Russ!!

Say it aint so!
