Have the LC team ever considered including subtitling or closed captioning versions of their recons for hearing-impaired viewers?

The only problem I could see is that most subtitled programs are over moving material, negating the need for the captions which the recons have. With recons, you still need the captions explaining what's going on, and having to have these captions as well as subtitles means there's an awful lot on screen.

You should see if you can get hold of some of the old COI recons (The Abominable Snowmen is a good example) - they used to do fully subtitled recons, and while good at the time, the Loose Cannon versions are far superior without all the on-screen clutter.

Well i'm not sure how closed captioning works as such but i presume its some form of subtitles?

Well, couple of issues, firstly it would presumably take quite a lot of time and, presumably, take some technical knowledge to set up also, as Pip says, with the acion being still there would bean awful lot to explain

However sripts of missing episodes are widely available http://homepages.bw.edu/~jcurtis/Scripts/scripts_project.htm so i would presume anyone with hearing difficulties ccould use them in conjunction with the recon

The Change of Identity recons did a good job with teh subtitling (of sorts) on the recons that person did - it really worked well on Marco Polo, especially with a change of font or two for certain scenes like Marco Polo's journal and Ping-Cho's song about the Cave of 500 Eyes.

But I believe it would be hard work to do. I wanted to do something simular for a DVD of my own Moonbase recon (for the personal use of me and my family only (mainly because both my eldest daughter and I suffer occasional hearing problems plus my youngest is completly deaf)) and while I made use of the script that was online, it still took me two weeks to get everything lined up and in the end, I still fouled up the job..
