After watching the animated episodes of the invasion this morning i was thrilled by how good it was, it's fantastic, but i just can't help wondering how many innacuricies it has when i compare it to the LC version, which is equally good?

My destiny is in the stars, and to see the day when all 108 missing eps of Doctor Who and Shada are recons and or animations on dvd! |

| The glass pannels, the tripping up, kicking of feet ect.., and Vaughn being sat down as opposed to looking out the window, but it is generally the same, Benton is still in the car. |

What took you so long to watch the animated episodes of The Invasion? I was so pleased with The Invasion, I bought five copies for friends and family. I only wish they would animate more of the lost Troughton stories. |

I don't know one single Doctor Who fan who does not own a copy of The Invasion DVD. If you don't own one then you can't be a genuine fan in my opinion.
Like you I bought several copies, and as far as I know it sold well, so why didn't they do anymore?
I wish they'd animate Master Plan or at least Tenth Planet 4.
It's not really fair to compare The Invasion animation with the LC recons because the animation was done by professionals with a decent budget and the recons are done by gifted amateurs with limited resources. We owe those who produce the recons a big debt of gratitude because they take a long time to make and a huge amount of time, dedication and love is invested in them. The last Evil of the Daleks recon was outstanding and the attention to detail was mind-blowing.

Probably because that is what the fans want? Fans in the early 80s wanted some of the lost Patrick Troughton stories remade so seasons 4 and 5 could have at least a few complete stories that could be watched again, but that never happened. Even Patrick Troughton mentioned that he would have loved to remake The Evil of the Daleks because it was a classic. In order to get something made for Doctor Who, maybe the ones in authority need to be told not to make it, and then they will commission that particular item. |

| We'll get Ian Levine to stand outside 2|E's office shouting "Don't animate Evil of the Daleks! Fans don't want it!" It'll be out on by Christmas... |

As has been pointed out loads of times before, The Invasion episodes were funded by BBCi (they were intended for the BBC classic Doctor Who web site), and 2|entertain can't afford the cost of animating full episodes. The costs far out way the returns.
Although Doctor Who DVDs are consistently good sellers, figures are only in the thousands, not enough to fund animation from scratch.

It would be nice to win a big lottery. That way one fan can donate enough money to have more Patrick Troughton stories animated so all of us could enjoy them. If a rich individual was to approach 2/e with such an offer, I wonder if that person would be handed so much bureaucratic red tape to make any type of proposition extremely painful or just impossible. |

I've always said if I win the lottery I will pay for one missing story to be animated. The way I would go about it is to contact either Ian Levine or Steven Hill and get them to sort it out for me.
I would just basically get them to give me an idea of the full price of getting one story from it's current state to release condition including commentary's, photo gallery, documentary's etc and pay them the full cost up front before any work is started.
I would turn over all rights to the Beeb right from day one and let the recon team do whatever needs doing with no input from me so basically it would be as if they were doing a normal dvd release except I'd be footing the bill.
Once the story is finished It would be up to 2/entertain to foot the duplication and distribution costs but I should think they would be grateful to have another story ready to be released and they would not have a problem with that.
The only thing I would ask for in exchange for me forking out all this money is to have my name placed somewhere in the credits of the accompanying making of special feature and that would be my legacy |
