Hey Russ,
I'm curious. In your opinion, which LC Recons are most in need of updating?

-The Savages doesn't count since an update is in progress.

Out of interest, does anyone have a copy of the first few tele-snaps for Episode 1, which show the credits in black over the opening credits (representing the TARDIS in flight after it left London), instead of the usual captions in white over the action?

Yes ;-)
On closer inspection though, the 'cloud' patterns on the picture are not from the opening title sequence footage, but were most likely taken from the test footage shot for the opening titles. Its also my opinion that these cloud effects were shown on the TARDIS scanner and that the titles were superimposed over a close up of the scanner screen. A few minutes into the episode there is a similar shot of the time vortex clouds shown on the scanner which mixes to a shot of the cave mouth as the TARDIS lands.

Very interesting! :) It's a shame the BBC uploaded a lot of tele-snaps with 'normal' episode captions, but in the case of a unique one like this they didn't bother...

I've got a copy of that one sitting on a shelf back in England - IIRC it's the only Smugglers recon that has the correct Episode 1 captions!

It's like painting the Forth Road Bridge isn't it? Once you've completed it all, you have to start all over again.

I watch a ton of Elephe recons myself and have also seen efforts on Youtube by Tricolour and TheHappinessPatrol.

Still, it'd be nice for Loose Cannon to do the ones they haven't - which include some of the best stories Who ever did!

The thing to remember is there was more than Loose Cannon out there! Whilst Web and Wheel are certainly high on the list there are JV versions of both stories which are probably better than the early LC recons as Rick mastered these in NTSC so the versions kicking about are conversions whereas the JV Wheel and Web were mastered in PAL (I beleive in SVHS) something that didn't happen for Loose Cannon till Toymaker and Power.

Also remakes tend to be a lot quicker than first attempts as we usually have the basics in place

I admit I'd LOVE to see Web and Evil.

Well just start at the beginning and work your way forward really! I think Space Pirates and Myth Makers were the most needy as such advances had been made in non telesnap stories since those very early ones but the next non telesnap stories were Galaxy 4 and Celestial Toymaker which, whilst a little dated, were a big step up. The telesnap stories as time has gone on better quality telesnaps and better ways of tranferring between formats mean they have generally improved gradually
