Well, I copied a whole load of recons I have in my collection to DVD two months ago, for my own personal use although my niece will borrow one or two of them..

It's not allowed if you distribute them yourself, especially for profit!

Is there a problem with the noise level of Loose Cannon tapes? sorry, couldn't resist a bad pun off of a typo/word misuse. As others pointed out you are allowed to do pretty much anything you want because "nuthink in the world can shtop" you. I know I copy the tapes to DVD for my own private use. As long as you aren't distributing them digitally over the net, nobody will care.

As Pip said as long as people don't distribute them in any sort of Digital format we don't care, its distribution thats the problem

Yes - in fact I think most people do that anyway.

What you do when you get them is your decision, and LC can't do a thing about it - the only thing is that you're not going to get pristine DVD copies of the recons directly from Loose Cannon.
